AQUA-REC MANAGEMENT, INC...JEFFERY L KING OWNER...ASHA..STARFISH AQUATICS

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY (AQUA-REC MANAGEMENT) AND IT'S OWNER JEFFERY L KING. THIS COMPANY TRAINS AND HIRES TEENAGERS AS LIFEGUARDS FOR AREA COMMUNITY POOLS.

Mr. King advertises that he hires and trains local teenagers under the banner of Starfish Aquatics Institute and the American Safety and Health Administration.

Below is an email sent to both these organizations from a very close friend of mine who witnessed the abusive attack by Mr. King on my 17 year old daughter and her best friend during their training session with Mr. King and his company.

After this took place myself and my daughter's friends mother went up to the Greenwood Forest pool where the training was taking place to get our training fees back and Mr. King continued to yell vulgar obsenities at me in front of my girls and approx. 12 other teenage boys and girls taking his class.  I apologize for the vulgar language in the email but it was necessary to show these organizations, that he represents, the exact language he is using to 16 and 17 year old boys and girls.

Subject: Damage to your Mission

To Those Concerned,

Please HELP!  Aqua-Rec Management, Inc. (in Houston, Texas) is claiming to be a national trainer for your Institute (Starfish Aquatics Institute) and the American Safety & Health Institute.   After researching more about your Institute, I felt compelled to inform you of incongruent perpetuation of your “Mission” as posted on your website.  Please also note that I am certainly aware that you are, more than likely totally unaware of the actions of all your trainers in the field.

On Saturday and Sunday, April 24-25, 2010 at the…GREENWOOD FOREST Clubhouse Pool, the initial lifeguard training provided by Jeffery L. King of Aqua-Rec Management, Inc. severely and irreparably damaged the “Mission” of Starfish Aquatics Institute as an national trainer.

As stated in your “Mission”:
Why We Exist:
To reduce drowning and save lives by providing reputable and responsive aquatic safety training programs and services delivered to the public through a network of friendly, knowledgeable aquatic professionals who serve as independent training providers.

Impact - How our value-guided actions will help us make a difference:
We will empower training providers to work independently within a framework of best practice guidelines, rather than dictate or prescribe rigid procedures. In our relationships we will seek to serve as a mentor rather than a dictator.

Jeffery L. King is using training tactics that are not representative of the above stated mission and impact.  I apologize for the vulgar and offensive use of profanity, but they are the exact words of
someone you have mentored in the past and pretty sure they are not within the framework of “best practices guidelines” that you teach:

These are EXACT words Jeffery L. King  is using in addressing 17 year old male and females:

“Spit your gum out, it’s annoying the shit out of me”…

“Get your ass out of the pool….”

In response to being 3 minutes late (addressing two 17 year old girls:
… “ya’ll are bullshit”…

Also in response to these two girls being 3 minutes late:
“all these kids (in the training class), don’t have a backbone to tell you to get up and leave (for interrupting and being late) and if it were up to me, I would have ya’ll out of here”….

In response to his comment, one of the girls responded”
“do you want us to leave?”
He replied: “I just want you to SHUT UP”.

Please, please help…  There are some very concerned people in this community and would very much like some ACTION taken to stop this from happening again.

PS.  It should also be noted that Jessica's father, Dav

PS.  It should also be noted that Jessica's father, David and Allyssa's mother, Melissa went back
up to the club to get refund on training fees.  Mr. King continued his vulgar outbursts to the point
that tennis players (200 feet away) had to request the screaming to stop.
